- The game never asks for your location, camera or microphone, and there is no payment of any kind.
1. Who operates this experience
LIFE HAPPENS! — Build Your Future is an educational life-simulation experience published by Rich Off Education. This notice describes only what is verifiable in the current product. Rich Off Education's legal entity details, mailing address and phone number are intentionally not stated here because they are not part of this product's verified information. Contact details appear in the Contact section below.
2. Educational purpose
The experience lets learners practice decisions about education pathways, careers, money, housing, transportation, relationships, wellness, responsibilities, setbacks and recovery inside a fictional simulation. It is intended for classroom and family learning use. All characters, employers, prices and outcomes are invented for teaching.
3. No accounts: a local-first design
This version has no sign-up, no sign-in, no password and no user profile on any server. You press Play and the game begins. Because there is no account, there is nothing for us to look up about you and no way for us to link play to a person.
4. The nickname the game asks for
Character creation asks for a nickname of 2 to 16 characters and displays a reminder to use a nickname or made-up name only. Do not enter your full legal name, initials with a last name, a student ID, an address, a phone number or any other real personal information. Whatever you type is saved in your own browser and is shown back to you in the game; it is not transmitted by the application.
5. Exactly what is stored on your device
The game writes the following items to your browser's local storage. Nothing here leaves your device through the application.
lifehappens.save.v3
Your game save: the nickname you typed, chosen look and outfit, difficulty and reading/sound/large-text settings, pathway, age and month, simulated money, savings, debt and credit score, job and training progress, purchased items and home placements, relationship and quest progress, badges, simulated story log and academic-skill scores.
lifehappens.teacher.v1
Teacher Mode session settings: session focus, difficulty, session length, supports, allowed categories, whole-class mode, class challenge, optional teacher code, and any text a teacher types into the classroom panel or scenario builder fields.
lifehappens.observations.v1
Teacher observation rows: a seat or table label chosen by the teacher, 0–3 ratings, and free-text notes the teacher types.
lifehappens.guides.seen.v1
Which guide tips you have already dismissed.
lifehappens.first-mission.v1
Your progress through the first mission walkthrough.
The game does not use session storage, IndexedDB or cookies, and it does not set any identifier that follows you between sites.
6. What the application does not collect
Based on a review of the current source code, the game application contains none of the following:
- No user accounts, passwords, or third-party sign-in
- No cloud save or cross-device sync
- No advertising or behavioral advertising
- No sale or sharing of personal information by the application
- No product analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry code in the game
- No cookies set by the game
- No chat or messaging between real people (all in-game characters are fictional and scripted)
- No public posting or content sharing
- No location, camera, microphone, or contacts access
- No payment processing or in-app purchases
- No database or backend server for game data
- No email address, phone number, or school identifier requested anywhere in the game
We deliberately do not say "we collect nothing." Any website, including this one, is delivered over the internet, and the infrastructure that delivers it necessarily receives technical data. Section 8 explains that.
7. No cloud save or sync
Progress exists only in the browser where it was created. Switching browsers, devices, or profiles, or playing in private/incognito mode, starts a new game. If you clear browsing data, site data, or storage for this site — or if your device, school image or browser policy clears it for you — the save is erased and cannot be recovered by us or by you.
8. Technical data processed by hosting and infrastructure
To load a web page at all, the hosting and network infrastructure that serves this site necessarily processes ordinary technical request data such as an IP address, browser user-agent string, requested page and timestamp. That processing is separate from the game application, which itself sends no game data anywhere.
Pre-publication item: this notice does not yet name the hosting provider, its subprocessors, or their log retention periods, because those details have not been verified for this product. They must be documented and added here before publication rather than guessed at now.
One additional note for transparency: while the project is being built and previewed inside its development editor, a development-time error-reporting hook provided by that editor may receive technical error details if a crash occurs. This exists for debugging the build and is not a product analytics system.
9. Teacher Mode data
Teacher Mode stores session settings, classroom panel text, scenario-builder text and observation rows in the teacher's own browser only. It does not create rosters, does not sync to a gradebook and does not transmit notes. Observation rows are identified by a seat or table label the teacher chooses.
Important for teachers: do not type IEP or 504 information, diagnoses, health details, disciplinary records, student ID numbers or other sensitive student records into any free-text field. This product does not yet have an approved data-handling model for records of that kind. Use seat labels and skill-based notes only.
10. Advertising, tracking and related practices
There is no advertising of any kind, no behavioral advertising, no sale or sharing of personal information by the application, no analytics or tracking code, no user-generated public posting and no chat or messaging between real users. Every conversation in the game is scripted dialogue with a fictional character.
11. Children and student privacy
This experience is designed for school-aged learners, so it is built to minimize data: no accounts, no contact details, nickname-only identity and local-only storage. We take a conservative position:
- Students should always play under a nickname rather than a real name.
- Schools, districts and teachers should follow their own approval, notice and consent processes before classroom use.
- Parents and guardians can ask questions using the Contact section, and can erase all local progress at any time by clearing site data or using the in-game Start a New Life option.
We do not claim that the absence of accounts automatically makes this product exempt from COPPA, FERPA, state student-privacy laws or any other requirement, and we make no claim of certification or approval under them. Those determinations belong to qualified counsel and to each school or district.
12. Parents and schools: how to reach us
Questions about this notice, about classroom use or about a privacy review can be sent to the contact address below. Because there is no account system, we generally have no stored information about an individual player to look up, correct or delete: the player controls that data on their own device.
13. Changes to this notice
If the product changes in a way that affects privacy — for example if accounts, cloud saves or analytics were ever added — this notice will be updated before that change is enabled, and the effective date below will change.
Effective date: September 18, 2026.
